Venda Football Academy (VFA) recently visited three traditional leaders in Vhembe district, Limpopo Province.

The leaders include Thovhele NTL Mashamba, Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, and Musanda Vho Mundalamo.

“The visits’ main aim were to acquaint the team with the leaders and establish working relations,” the club said in a statement.

“The visits are the first phase of VFA’s plan to visit various stakeholders to build relationships with leaders and their communities. This is in order to further its mission of building platforms to give rural people opportunities through a winning mentality and its vision of championing the pride of rural people on a global stage.”


On Thursday 22, December 2022, the first visit was made to Vho Thovhele NTL Mashamba at Mashamba village. This is the village where VFA shareholder Mr. Ramaite comes from.

During the visit, VFA General Manager Tenda Masikhwa presented Vho Thovhele with a framed replica jersey signed by the players as well as other VFA merchandise. Vho Thovhele appreciated the visit and emphasized it should not be the first or the last.

The second visit was on Tuesday 27 December 2022 to Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli at Mbilwi, Sibasa. VFA Chairman Itani Munzhelele presented Thovhele with a framed replica jersey signed by the players as well as a VFA personalised replica jersey.

Other gifts included school shoes to be donated to identified children that come from poverty-stricken homes. During the handing over of the school shoes, the VFA Chairman made a pledge to donate every year.

The last visit was on Thursday 29 December 2022 to Musanda Vho Mundalamo at Tshitavha Village. Tshitavha village is where VFA Chairman Munzhelele hails from.

Musanda Mundalamo was also presented with a framed replica jersey and a personalised replica jersey by the VFA Chairman as well as other VFA items.

“VFA plans to continue with the visits to other traditional leaders and various formations in the new year (2023).”

Venda Football Academy are currently 15th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. They will resume their league against Black Leopards in a Vhembe derby on Saturday, 14 January in Malamulele.
