Lion FC were officially crowned champions of Mzansi’s most popular kasi football tournament, Philly’s Games.

The DStv-sponsored 2022/23 edition concluded in spectacular fashion at the Tswelopele Sport Centre in Esiqongweni, Tembisa on Monday.

Lions won a nail-biting 5-4 penalty shootout over Isithembiso FC following a goalless stalemate.

They walked away with R200 000 winner’s cash prize. Isithembiso FC took home a R150 000 consolation as the tournament runner’s up.

Fans travelling from different parts of Gauteng to enjoy football at the DStv-sponsored tournament.

Sathekge hailed the organisation of the games as well as the great turnout of fans from Tembisa and surrounding areas for supporting the tournament throughout the 13-match days.

Philly’s Games founder and chairman, Philemon Mathebula was grateful of the partnership with DStv. Mathebula alluded that the Games have evolved into an entirely new product.

Kamo Masanabo finished as the tournament’s top goalscorer with six goals.
