Limpopo based Motsepe Foundation Championship club Magesi FC have announced the appointment of well traveled coach Clinton Larsen. Magesi officialy unveiled Larsen in Polokwane on Wednesday although he started at his role six weeks ago.
Jacky Ledwaba is the new assistant coach of the club. Ledwaba was in charge when the club gained promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship in 2022.
CLINTON LARSEN TASK
Larsen’s immediate task will be a Nedbank Cup encounter against La Masia at Wits Stadium on Friday. The 51-year-old says he didn’t hesitate to take up the challenge after being approached by previous coach, Ledwaba.
“I am forever optimistic, as much as I am a realist but I am also optimistic,” said Larsen.
“I know we sit in 10th position, I know we are 10 points off the top and I know a lot of things. In football a good run can catapultier you into a strong position.
“That is what I am drawing positivity from. At some point we must have a good run, and doing so is going to push us up the table. That’s where we are looking. We are looking at the 18 games,”
“Coach Jacky got 16 points in 12 games without any real assistance from the technical team. Without the new signings we hope to get.
“So he has done a magnificent job, some think it’s not enough. Some might say for a promoted team it is, and I agree. It’s a good start, a good foundation laid for us to push on from.
MORE UNVELINGS FOR MAGESI
Magesi will also unveil Mozambique International Manuel Kambala as their latest signing in the next few days. Kambala has been training with the Rockies for the past few weeks.
He is set to be joined by former AmaZulu midfielder Samuel Darpoh. Darpoh recently parted ways with Venda Football Academy (VFA). He had joined the club at the beginning of the season.
