Orlando Pirates thumped Stellenbosch FC 4-1 at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon to move to fourth position on the DStv Premiership log. It was the Buccaneers’ second league victory in a row for the first time this season.

Pirates proved too strong for Stellies as they took control of the game, as early as they opened the scoring in the seventh minute through Thabang Monare. Innocent Maela doubled their lead in the 22nd minute of the game, slotting from an open net.

The Buccaneers continued to pile the pressure on Stellenbosch FC in the second half of the game and eventually, Kermit Erasmus found the third goal Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo wrapped up the match in the 63rd minute to give the Sea Robbers a well-deserved win.

Meanwhile, Steve Barker’s charges managed only one attempt at goals through the entire 90 minutes which came from Mervin Boji. The consolation goal was his first goal for the Western Cape

However, this was the eighth game without a win for Barker, which puts him under immense pressure going into the next match.

The Buccaneers will breathe a sign of huge relief as they also confirmed the return of their maestro Thembinkosi Lorch. Lorch was out for a couple of months through an injury. Richard Ofori and Olisa Ndah were also reported back to training after they recovered from their respective injuries.
