Limpopo side Copperbelt Ladies marked their Hollywoodbets Super League debut with a win against University of Pretoria.
Copperbelt secured a hard fought 2-1 win at Seshego Ground B. It’s the first season in the Hollywoodbets Super League for both clubs. This is after they gained promotion from the SAFA Sasol League promotion playoffs which took place in Polokwane last year.
They joined other Limpopo teams such as Ma-indies FC and First Touch Academy who have been campaigning in the league for a while now.
COPPERBELT LADIES IMPREESSES THEIR COACH ON FIRST OUTING
Copperbelt head coach Karabo Selabe was left impressed with how his Ladies performed in their first match on the big stage.
“We had to work harder so that we can grind the results,” Selabe told reporters after the match.
“But it was a little bit tough because our mindset was a little bit down because some players still don’t think we are in the Hollywoodbets league. But they will mature with the game.
“We missed chances in the first half that’s why they got the penalty and punished us but held our heads high and made sure that we got the results that we wanted,” he said.
A GOOD WELCOME INTO THE HOLLYWOODBETS SUPER LEAGUE
“It’s a good well come (to play AmaTuks) as you know we are all from the Sasol League. So now we are just here to welcome each other than now I can explain to them that we were playing with a Sasol team now we are going to play a good team TUT. So, we will see which team we are going to face because these ones are in the same level as us.”
The newcomers will now travel to the TUT Pretoria Stadium for their second league fixture scheduled for Saturday, 11 February.
