Marumo Gallants have booked a spot in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after a 3-1 win over Magesi at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Tuesday.
The Limpopo club showed their intentions from the first whistle as they put pressure on the Motsepe Foundation Championship side. They were eventually awarded a penalty on the 27th minute of the game. In form striker Letsie Koapeng converted to give the home side a lead.
Marumo Gallants continued to pile up the pressure on Magesi FC in search of a second goal. They eventually doubled their lead through striker Judas Moseamedi in the 45th minute of the game.
The hosts went to half-time with a comfortable lead, after finding a third quick goal on the stroke of half-time through Tebogo Thangwane.
Bahlabani ba Ntwa held on until they lapsed concentration in the dying minute of the second half as Magesi found the back of the net through Kagiso Selemela. It was too little too late as Marumo Gallants claimed a comfortable win in Rustenburg.
MARUMO GALLANTS SHIFT FOCUS TO CAF CONFED CUP.
Following their progression into the last 16 of Ke Yona Cup, Marumo Gallants are welcoming Al Akhdar of Libya in the Caf Confederation Cup this Sunday in Soweto. They are drawn in Group A alongside Al Akhdar, USM Alger and Saint Eloi Lupopo.
DIKWENA TŠA MEETSE BOW OUT OF THE NEDBANK CUP
Magesi FC are out of the Nedbank Cup ke yona and will be shifting their focus onto the next fixture in the Motsepe Foundation Championship against JDR Stars on the 18th February 2023. Magesi are currently sitting in ninth position on the log with only 13 points after 17 matches played.
