Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy have officially confirmed the suspension of head coach Simo Dladla.

LimSportsZone reported two days ago that VFA had made the technical team changes. This follows a 3-1 loss to Baroka on Saturday.

The result comes at the back of many disappointing results this season. VFA are currently 13th on the log with 18 points, five points above bottom placed Black Leopards.

POOR PERFORMANCES LEAD TO SIMO DLADLA SUSPENSION

Their performances are an opposite to their first season where they fell short of securing a promotion playoff spot. The club has also made some huge changes prior to the start of the season.

Dladla took over from Michael Loftman who also did not long into the role. But the former Uthongathi mentor has also struggled to bring in any positive results.

VENDA FOOTBALL ACADEMY PUT TRUST ON JOEL MASUTHA

Assistant coach Joel Masutha has now been tasked with taking the club out of the bottom half of the table. He will be assisted by Rowan Hendricks and also Macbeth Sibaya.

“Venda football Academy (VFA’) has taken a resolution to suspend Head Coach Simo Dladla from his duties with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.

“In the interim, Joel Masutha will lead the team as Head Coach and he will be assisted by Rowan Hendricks. Macbeth Sibaya will continue as second Assistant Coach.”

“No further statement will be made on this matter,” the club said.

Masutha is not new to this situation, during the 2017/18 season he took over a Leopards side that was on the brink of relegation and led them to a promotion back into the Premiership.

Masutha’s first match in charge will be at home against La Masia on Wednesday, 22 February. They will be followed by two home games against Casric Stars and All Stars.
