On-Loan striker Boitumelo Radiopane fired Cape Town Spurs to a 3-2 win on the road against Baroka FC in a Motsepe Foundation Championship clash at the Global Stadium in Limpopo on Wednesday.

The game got off to a wonderful start for the Spurs right away as Rushwin Dortley gave them the lead after only eight minutes. The pressure on the home team increased as Jayden Petersen extended their lead in the 19th minute.

However, just before the half-hour mark, Sydney Malivha pulled one back for Baroka.

Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett explained that his team is aware of the standards that are set for them on the field. He added that they had studied their opponents to take advantage of any weaknesses.

“It is always important for our players to do what they do best and that is to win games, and fight for each other,” he said.

“Obviously we knew it was going to be a tough game coming into this field, which is a new field. They capitalise on playing direct football and for us, it was to make sure we win more second balls than they did,” added coach Bartlett.

RESULTS A REWARD FOR HARD WORK FOR CAPE TOWN SPURS

Bartlett said that his side kept things straightforward, and he was happy to witness the results of their hard work in the training on the playing field.

“We did the basic things the right way, and we scored goals, some cracking goals but it’s also goals that we work on the training field, which is very nice to see [them] come into fruition in a match.
