SuperSport United brushed aside Golden Arrows by 2-1 in a DStv Premiership clash at the Lucas Masterpiece Moripe Stadium through a brace by Zakhele Lepasa on Sunday evening.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori got off to a great start with Patrick Maswangwanyi only managing to hit a side netting from a tight angle on the left side within the second minute of the match. Siphesihle Ndlovu also tried his luck five minutes into the game but sent his shot wide.

SuperSport United continued to ask questions as Grant Margeman tried his luck from distance and couldn’t keep his shot down. Thamsanqa Gabuza also directed his header wide after Lepasa put in a cross in the 24th minute of the game.

ZAKHELE LEPASA OPEN HIS SCORING FOR SUPERSPORT UNITED

The wait was finally over as Zakhele Lepasa opened his scoring for SuperSport United. His first goal of the season put Matsatsantsa ahead after a great low cross from Thapelo Maseko in the 30th minute of the game.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori continued to pile more pressure on their opponents with Thulani Tyson Hlatshwayo failing to convert two quick headers before Maseko put his shot from range around 40 minutes.

ARROWS WENT INTO BREAK INTERVAL WITHOUT CREATING A CHANCE AT GOAL

The visitors went into the break without creating any chance at goal in the opening 45 minutes.

Abafana bes’thende seemed to have a Half-time pep-talk as Ntsako Makhubela fired wide from inside the box.

Matsatsantsa took a gap as abafana bes’thende fell behind as Zakhele Lepasa completed his brace on the 53rd minute of the second half with a cracker flew at the top of the left corner.

However, Golden Arrows were awarded a penalty in the 74th minute of the game after Johannes brought down Divine Lunga in the box and thanks to Knox Mutizwa who converted from the spot.

ABAFANA BES’THENDE SITS 12TH ON THE LOG STANDINGS AFTER THEIR LOSS.

Golden Arrows have lost fourth of their last six matches after going down to SuperSport United. Their loss puts them 12th on the log and four points clear off the relegation zone meanwhile SuperSport United cemented their second spot on the log and opened a five points clear gap to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.
