Maritzburg United remain in relegation trouble as Mamelodi Sundowns were held during the DStv Premiership matches on Wednesday.

Maritzburg were held to a 2-2 draw by fellow strugglers Marumo Gallants at the Harry Gwala Stadium. The result means Maritzburg remains at the bottom of the log while Gallants are third from the bottom.

The PSL relegation battle has also taken a new twist after Chippa United’s 3-2 win against Richards Bay. The Chilli Boys came from 2-0 down to secure the much-needed victory for the Eastern Cape side.

These results also meant Richards Bay are now in further danger of relegation. The DStv Premiership newcomers have now gone 17 matches without a win.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS HELD IN DSTV PREMIERSHIP CLASH

At the top of the log, Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 2-2 draw by AmaZulu at King Goodwill Zwelithini stadium.

Sundowns goals were scored by Bongani Zungu and Peter Shalulile while Usuthu fought back via Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Sede Dion.

The draw was the sixth of the season for Masandawana whose form domestically has been inconsistent.

They have only won once in the last DStv Premiership matches. Their lead at the top is 16 points above second-placed Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneers played to a 1-1 draw against Royal AM at Orlando Stadium.

Sekhukhune United held by TS Galaxy in Polokwane

Earlier on, late drama saw Sekhukhune United held to a 1-1 draw by TS Galaxy at Peter Mokaba Stadium. Sekhukhune looked set to clinch maximum points until a late Given Msimango penalty gave Galaxy a much-needed point.

Babina Noko opened the scoring via Chibuike Ohizu also via a penalty.
