Orlando Pirates should brace for a fight when they face rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semifinal, according to Sifiso Hlanti.

The two Soweto giants meet in the long-awaited clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday at 15:00. A win for both PSL giants will present an opportunity to finally get their hands on the Nedbank Cup trophy after so many years.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the left back insists they remain positive, despite the huge task ahead.

“We should try and redeem ourselves. At the end of the day we don’t need to put ourselves under pressure unnecessarily,” he said.


“We need to look at things in a positive manner and the attitude as well. We know that playing against Pirates is always a fight and it’s a special occasion.

“Not only for us as players but for everyone in the country. We are looking forward to making things up and knowing very well that they also have a plan, we also have a plan. It’s going to be an exciting event with high intensity as well. But we are positive.”

Kaizer Chiefs have found themselves conceding some silly goals of late and the 33-year-old admits it’s something they need to work on.

“I won’t say it’s a working factor. This is a game of mistakes in which we should try and avoid such things which are true. All in all it’s a team effort and teamwork.


“We make mistakes in the game and we try to rectify those kinds of mistakes which at the end of the day we need to soilder on,” he added.

“We know very well that it’s not a great feeling conceding silly goals but we are working on that and we hope that things will come the way we want.”
