The former Black Leopards FC and Highlands Park FC goalkeeper, Vincent Moto believes that Maritzburg United FC will survive relegation. The Team of Choice had been given another opportunity to save their status through the promotion playoffs.
They finished the league in position 15 with 30 points. They will have Casric Stars and Cape Town Spurs in a mini three-team league from May 28 to 14 June.
EX KEEPER TIPS MARITZBURG UNITED TO SURVIVE
Moto, who played in the PSL for Leopards and now-defunct Highlands Park, insists Maritzburg won’t go down.
“Yes, they had a bad season. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out in their favour. They were unlucky in most games because they displayed good football just that results didn’t favour them,” Moto said.
“Yes, they will survive. They got a chance which is a second chance of course to fight for their DStv [Premiership] status. But it’s not gonna be a walk in the park, they have to dig bigger.”

Maritzburg started the season with John Maduka but the club decided to terminate his contract in November last year. They decided to rope in coach Fadlu Davids after he had a short stint with FC Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. Davids was the assistant coach of Josef Zinnbauer and they previously worked together at Orlando Pirates FC.
The Team of Choice will play their first game of the PSL promotional playoffs against Casric FC on 31 May at Harry Gwala Stadium.
