Swallows coach Musa Nyatama and Cape Town City forward Khanyisa Mayo scooped the DStv Premiership monthly awards for May 2023. Mayo was voted player of the month while Nyatama scooped the coach of the month. Nyatama closed off a great season for Swallows after being appointed as interim coach of the PSL side.
He had a dream end to the league campaign at the club from fighting relegation to an incredible securing a Top 8 finish on the last day. Swallows were the only club that won all their matches in the month of May.

This includes away victories over Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM as well as Marumo Gallants at home. Nyatama becomes the first Swallows FC coach to win the award, after Brandon Truter two seasons ago.
KHANYISA MAYO IN TOP FORM
Meanwhile, Mayo stood out for the judges owing to his sterling contribution during this final month of the season. The two goals he scored secured him a joint-league top goal-scorer award alongside Peter Shalulile.
Cape Town City finished the season better than they began, eventually securing a 4th-place finish. Its a first-ever
Nyatama and Mayo both win their first-ever monthly individual award in the DStv Premiership for both Mayo and Nyatama. They will each receive a trophy and R7 000 courtesy of league sponsors, DStv.
