Coach Rulani Mokwena has agreed on a new four-year contract with the DStv Premiership reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 36-year-old Mokwena was named a solo head coach at Mamelodi Sundowns after the team’s technical staff reshuffle in October 2022. He served as a co-coach at the PSL giants with Manqoba Mngqithi before.

The restructuring of the technical team saw coach Steve Komphela taking over an assistant role position. While Mnghithi was redeployed as a senior coach of the club. Mokwena, the youngest coach in the DStv Premiership currently, has led Masandawana to their sixth consecutive league title in his first stint as a head coach.

He guided the Chloorkop-based club for 20 times in the league, winning 14 games, and drawing six which left him unbeaten. And as a result, he was rewarded with a contract that will see him at the club until 2027 June.

RULANI MOKWENA COMMENTS AFTER SIGNING A NEW CONTRACT

Expressing his delight about the new contract, Mokwena has said that he still has a lot to deliver.

“You know you are loved, you know you are appreciated and wanted. I look in the eyes of my players every day and feel there is still more to be done. Because of that feeling I felt a need to be able to put myself at services for this incredible institution once more. Try to achieve more and help to win more trophies,” Mokwena told the club’s media department.
