Newly appointed Swallows head coach Steve Komphela has been tipped to be a big success at the club by former Maswai-swai striker, Andries Mpondo.
In a shocking news, Swallows, had, on Sunday announced the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Komphela as their new man in charge ahead of the DStv Premiership 2023/2024 campaign.

Komphela will be succeeding interim coach, Musa Nyatama, who will now serve as assistant coach along with former Kaizer Chiefs left-back Ditheko Mototo.
Moroka Swallows legend, Mpondo has insisted that things are going to change at Swallows under Komphela, highlighting the way the former Chiefs’ coach possesses experience.
According to Mpondo, the talented crop of youngsters at Swallows, have proven a crucial point to reviving the club’s fortunes towards the end of last season. He believes they will continue to do that under Komphela.
STEVE KOMPHELA TIPPED TO SUCCEED
Mpondo, who played for Swallows for his entire career, said that Komphela is the best coach the team could ask for and that with him, Maswai-Swai have a good chance of bringing back the trophy days.
“Steve is a good coach, an experienced coach who knows everything about the game. I believe he will do well at Swallows,” Mpondo told LimSportsZone.
“He just needs support and hopefully, they will support him and he is good. His experience will change a lot at the team. He also got good people in Musa Nyatama and Ditheko (Mototo).
“His two assistant coaches just need to boost their qualifications in coaching and the team will go far. They just need support to revive the club.”
While Chaka Chaka, as Mpondo was known during his playing times, tipped Komphela to succeed at Swallows. He has insisted that Swallows’ management should try to bring quality and experienced players to help those in the ranks.
“What is needed now is support from the management in terms of strengthening the squad,” added Mpondo.
“They must buy players, and not just players, but quality players. For the coach to succeed, he needs to have quality and top players. So, the management, I believe they will do that.”
