Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed the appointment of a new coach ahead of the new season. Former La Masia coach Ashwin Sutton will take over from Bucs Mthombeni who also returns to the CEO role.
“Coach Bucs Mthombeni will always be a legend and leader at Casric Stars. It is with regret that we have mutually reached this difficult decision,” the club said.
“While the past few weeks of the season were disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past two years in his role as Head Coach. Building a foundation for long-term success.
“Mr Mthombeni leaves with our sincerest thanks for his tireless efforts and for taking up this responsibility as Head Coach. Going forward he will take up his previous role as CEO of Casric Stars FC. His place in the club’s history will always be secure. Not just for his story as a Head Coach. But as a great man and leader who gave us many great moments in our maiden season of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.”
“In the same breath, we’re also delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Ashwin Sutton as First Team Coach for the 2023/24 season.
During the past couple of years, Mr Sutton has proved himself to be one of the most exciting and successful coaches in the footballing fraternity of South Africa renowned for his attractive, attacking football and commitment to youth development.
“In our conversations with Mr Sutton leading up to this appointment, we were deeply impressed with his long-term vision for returning Casric Stars to the level we want to be competing at, and his drive and determination to achieve that.”
