Polokwane City registered their second win of the DStv Premiership season at the expense of Cape Town Spurs at the New on Saturday.
The Urban Warriors started off on a positive note following a good exchange of good encounters and were looking lively within 15 minutes. However, the home side dealt with the danger posed by the visitors.

But it was Polokwane City who drew first blood courtesy of Oswin Appollis in the 14th minute. Polokwane City continued to show great play and confidence at the same time pressing for a second goal. But Spurs stood firm at the back and quickly wanted to get back into the game with a great build-up play just after 20 minutes into the game.
The visitors continued to search for an equalizer through good play however they failed to penetrate Polokwane City. The match went to the half-time break with the home side leading 1-0.
It was the hosts who showed hunger in the second half as they were looking to add another goal to ease the pressure. Polokwane City doubled their lead through Douglas Mapfumo in the 61st minute of the second half following a great cross from second-half substitute Stevens Goovardia which guided it into the back of the net.
OWSIN APPOLLIS GETS A BRACE AS RISE AND SHINE WIN SECOND MATCH
Polokwane City extended their lead in the 77th minute courtesy of Oswin Appollis after a great pass blindsided Spurs’ defense. The striker found himself one on one with the keeper and put it at the keeper’s left side.
The visitors got a consolation goal through Khaya Mfecane with only 10 minutes remaining. This was Cape Town Spurs’ third straight defeat as they also conceded 6 goals in all matches played.
