Former Durban Ladies FC and Banyana Banyana midfielder Nondyebo Mgudu believes that Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC stands a chance to win the Hollywoodbets Super League. Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC are currently on top of the log table of the Hollywoodbets Super League this season, followed by their rivalry UWC Ladies FC.

Banyana Ba Style have 50 points in 19 games and UWC have 48 points in 18 games. During the last weekend, the log leaders [Mamelodi Sundowns] defeated Copperbelt Ladies FC by a goal to nil at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Copperbelt Ladies FC tried to equalise and they got a penalty in the 90th minute, but unfortunately, they missed it. On the other side, UWC Ladies FC traveled all the way from Cape Town to Johannesburg to visit UJ Ladies FC. The students didn’t disappoint as they came back home with the maximum points.

One goal by Manengela was enough to separate these two sides at UJ Stadium.

“As defending champions, they [Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies] stand a chance [to win the league],” Mgudu told LimSportsZone.

“The title race is between them and UWC Ladies FC and those predictions are based on where these teams are currently sitting on the log. We will have to wait until the last game.

“I’m sure that UWC Ladies FC is hungry for history but Sundowns has the experience to go all the way,” she concluded.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC will now take a break in the HollywoodBets Super League as they will be participating in the CAF Women’s Champions League from August 30 to September 08.

They will play their next league game on the 16th of September against Coal City Wizards FC. As for UWC Ladies FC they will also be playing against Ma-Indies Ladies FC this coming Saturday. This game will be at UWC Stadium at 15:00.
