The club captain hasn’t made any official appearance in the PSL this season but played in a friendly match against Young Africans.

He holds the record for featuring in the most number of successive seasons as a Kaizer Chiefs player in the PSL era since his first debut in 2007, and he is the most successful Kaizer Chiefs player in the current squad.

“One more trophy was delivered to the chairman [Dr Kaizer Motaung] office. I think that will make me the happiest player in the whole world,” Khune told Gagasi FM.

ONE WISH BEFORE KAIZER CHIEFS NUMBER ONE ITUMELENG KHUNE RETIRE

After his contract extension in June 2023, Amakhosi indicated that Khune would be involved in training and preparations for matches. But he will also use this year to broaden his technical acumen, as he transitions into a new coaching and ambassadorial role working with the marketing division of the club.

The last time Kaizer Chiefs lifted silverware was back in 2015 under Stuart Baxter.

“But like I’m saying, I’m not ready to retire. If I had to win or lead the team to win that one silverware this season. I think I might call it quits and give the responsibility to Brandon [Petersen], Bruce Bvuma, and Bontle Molefe.”

Kaizer Chiefs will be back in action when they host Royal AM at FNB Stadium on Saturday at 17:30.
