Former Baroka FC coach Wedson Nyirenda is searching for a new team after a tumultuous season with the Mozambican club, Ferroviario Da Beira FC.

Nyirenda, a titan coach in the Bakgakga history, had mutually parted ways with Dan Beira in December 2022. He cited that the club didn’t want to invest in buying players.

The former Kaizer Chiefs striker was a crucial man in his former side. He guided his troops to the final of the Mozambican national cup and played continental football in the same season.

The Zambian coach, who won Baroka their first ever domestic title. He beating Orlando Pirates 3-2 on penalties in the final of the Telkom Knockout at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth in 2018. But he is now free to join any team.

The coach opened up on why he left Dan Biera, claiming he left because he felt the club had no longer put much effort into spending to boost his squad.

“I am a free agent, and I’m free to the market. My contract came to an end in December 2022. I didn’t renew the contract,” Nyirenda told LimSportsZone.

“I left the team though it was a building process and had a team of juniors with an average age of 20. But I had to leave because the club was not investing in players. So I had to leave and not renew my contract.

“We finished fourth last season and I managed to take the team to the final of the TAÇA DE MOZAMBIQUE (national cup) and lost in the final,” he said. 

“And also took the same young team to the second round of CAF Confederation, beating the Chadian team 5-2 on aggregate. And beating Ponte De Boir of Congo 2-1 at home before going to Brazzaville to lose 3-0.”
