Gauteng based JDR Stars have now jumped into the top three of the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings. This follows a ruthless 5-0 win over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.
The win was their eight of the season after 15 matches. They are now on 27 points, three behind log leaders Polokwane City and second placed Casric Stars. City and Stars have played the same number of games.
The JDR goals were scored by Ishmael Wadi, Tumi Ngwepe, ex Sekhukhune forward Prince Nxumalo, Tiisetso Maseko and an own goal by TTM defender Luvolwetu Mpeta.
AN IMPORTANT WIN FOR RUTHLESS JDR STARS
“A very important win for us. Yes, it gets us into the top three and an important goal difference, we have addressed that,” coach Nnditsheni Nemasisi told the media after the match.
“We have not been scoring in the past four games, we have been scoring one nil so today I am happy that we took our opportunities. Even though in the first half the players were not playing as a team but as individuals and we had to address that.
Meanwhile, TTM interim coach Ricardo Miriri admits their opponents were dominant throughout the match.
“It’s a tough one to take. We allowed them to dominate in the middle of the park though during the week we tried to emphasis that problem.
“We know what they are capable of, they are a ball playing team meaning if you don’t run with a player, they will punish you. So, we gave them too much space inside the middle of the park, hence the results,” said Miriri.
