The South African senior women’s team, Banyana Banyana, continued to reap the rewards of their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

This is after they were honoured at the Gsport Annual List of Newsmakers on Wednesday.

The Gsport Annual List of Newmakers is an event that was established by Gsport founder Kass Naidoo. It is also aimed at closing the visibility gap in women’s sport.

BANYANA BANYANA SUCCESS

The SASOL-sponsored Banyana Banyana had a fruitful year after making history in July by clinching their first-ever WAFCON trophy. Some have deemed it as the moment that changed the face of women’s sport in the country.

The event was also attended by SAFA COO Lydia Monyepao and Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis. Ellis accepted the accolade on behalf of the team.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies were also amongst those honoured at the event.
