DStv Premiership strugglers Maritzburg United have announced the signing of three new players, including Kwame Peprah to beef up their squad
Maritzburg have found the going tough during the current season. They are currently bottom of the log with 14 points from 15 matches. The club has also changed their coaching staff with Fadlu Davids returning in place of John Maduka.
MARITZBURG ANNOUNCE TRIO
The new players roped in at the team of Choice are Ali Meza, Bradley Cross and Kwame Peprah.
“Maritzburg United Football Club are delighted to announce the acquisitions of Ali Meza, Bradley Cross and Kwame Peprah,” the club announced on Thursday.
“Meza and Cross will join the Team of Choice on permanent deals whilst Peprah arrives on loan from Orlando Pirates,” they said.
KWAME PEPRAH REUNITES WITH DAVIDS
Peprah joins from the Buccaneers where he had a decent first season under Davids and Mandla Ncikazi.
But the 22-year-old Ghanaian has found life tough in this campaign under new coach Jose Riveiro.
He made just six appearances in all competitions and has played just 109 minutes. Peprah’s contract with Pirates is coming to an end in June 2024.
Meza, on the other hand, left Maritzburg last January to join Bolivian club Always Ready. He only played in three official matches.
Before his move to Maritzburg in 2020, the 31-year-old also spent two seasons at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Bradley Cross is also not a stranger to South Africa football circles. He recently had unsuccessful trials at both Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United.
The 21-year-old centre back has played for Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bidvest Wits reserves, Schalke 04 and Newcastle United U23 side.
Maritzburg will battle it out with Royal AM in the KZN derby on Sunday, 15 January. The clash will be followed up by another KZN derby against Golden Arrows on Saturday, 21 January.
