DStv Premiership strugglers Chippa United have turned to their former coach Lehlohonolo Seema in a bid to fight relegation.

Rumours first emerged on Monday morning stating that the club had relieved Siyabulela Gwambi from his interim coach duties. Seema has now been tasked to be the one who will steer the sinking ship. He was recently coach of SAFA ABC Motsepe League sIde in the Eastern Cape Peace Makers.

The developments come after the Eastern Cape side failed to proceed to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup. They lost 2-1 to Sekhukhune United and this was Gwambi’s second match in charge after he took over from Kurt Lenties just a week ago.

In his short stint, Gwambi led two matches and lost both. The Chilli Boys are currently occupying the 15th position in the DStv Premiership log with 26 points and four games to go.

Seema is no stranger in Gqeberha. He has in fact helped the team to win relegation playoffs in the 2021/2022 season. However, by the look of things the 42-year-old coach will have a mammoth task ahead of him with remaining matches.

Chippa’s fate lies in the outcomes of their clashes against Kaizer Chiefs, Richards Bay, TS Galaxy, and Golden Arrows respectively.

When LimSportsZone reached out to Chippa United for a comment on the new coach developments there was no response.
