The event was attended by amongst others the Executive Mayor of Capricorn District, Cllr Mamedupi Kirsty Teffo, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana and MEC for Health Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

Mayor Mpe has encouraged the citizens of Polokwane and the province as whole and other parts of the country to take the Initiative and challenge of pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

“You don’t have to be a professional runner to run. You can come and walk for 5km, you can come run and walk for 10km, 21km,” Said Mpe.

“Come and run your 42km if you are ready. It’s not a difficult thing to run, but don’t stress yourself and think you can run like the top runners Ludwick Mamabolo or Rufus Photo. Those are top runners who run for money, you run for health.

MAINTAINING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

“The biggest medicine for our health is our ability to be active. Active body will give you an active mind and will improve the quality of life. It’s for yourself, you are not running for Polokwane. You are running for yourself, so I think people must take this challenge very seriously.”
