Collins Chabane Local Municipality in Limpopo will solicit money from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams who will need to use their Malamulele Stadium for the 2023/2024 season.

Due to the minimal usage of the venue by professional football clubs in the past years, the Local Municipality has worked around the clock in 2021 in a bid to bring the stadium up to the PSL’s standards.

The renovation work included restoration of the quality of the pitch and upgrading of the dressing rooms. Changing the coaches’ benches, building another grandstand as well as adding the number of seats.

And as a result, the facility was freely used by Black Leopards in the 2022/2023 season. This is after it complied with all the PSL requirements. Leopards didn’t pay any cent, per the agreement between the two parties.

That harmony was actually a part of the Municipality’s plans for marketing their venue. This as it was long not used as a venue by the soccer professional teams. Leopards’ deal came to an end at the end of the season.

TEAMS MUST PAY AT MALAMULELE STADIUM

Now, LimSportsZone understands the Municipality has reached its target and the stadium has earned the big tag. It is understood that any team that will need to use the facility will have to dig deeper.

Information reaching this publication is that the owner of the stadium will make no bones about their plan to charge the potential tenants as part of generating revenue.

The Limpopo teams that will participate in the PSL next season and probably use Malamulele stadium include Venda Football Academy, Magesi FC and Black Leopards, who reportedly bought the All Stars status after being relegated last season.

Baroka FC also have their own Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo. Meanwhile, Marumo Gallants who were axed from the DStv Premiership are likely to use old Peter Mokaba, Royal Bafokeng, or Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
