Corporate companies and Golfers ascended to the Polokwane Golf course on Friday in Limpopo, for the annual Mayoral Charity Golf Day. 

The Golf Day is hosted by executive mayor John Mpe and the Polokwane Municipality as part of fundraising to help underprivileged children within the Municipality. So far the Mayoral Charity Golf event has enabled over 300 students to progress to higher institutions of learning.

MAYOR JOHN MPE PLEDGES TO SUPPORT THE UNDERPRIVILEGED 

“The Golf Day is about raising funds for the Mayoral bursary,” explained executive mayor cllr John Mpe. 

“So it’s a Mayoral Charity Golf day which is meant to raise funds to help the children from poor households with their studies.

“Particularly at the various institutions of higher learning and we are very happy that we have been staging this annually to really help the poor children,” he said.

The day started with various golfers playing at the venue. Later on there will be a Gala dinner to award the top performers. There will also be some auctions to raise more funds for the initiative.

“We are looking forward to the networking sessions. Business deals being concluded and eventually money being transferred to the Polokwane Municipality. In order for us to give to the poorest of the poor in those universities.”

The annual event sees local golfers, business people and politicians come together at the Polokwane Golf club. To support the noble initiative. Amongst those in attendance at the event was Limpopo MEC for Health Dr Phophi Ramathuba.
