Siphelele Mthembu’s future is shrouded in uncertainty following coach Kwanele Kopo’s exit from the Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies.

Mthembu joined The Romans in December 2022 after having been released by AmaZulu. In fact, the veteran striker was roped in to help Callies avoid relegation.

The former Kaizer Chiefs enjoyed a prolific six-month stint with the Tshwane outfit. He scored five goals in 14 appearances across all competitions and helped them survive relegation.

However, now, a LimSportsZone insider at the club has revealed that the former Orlando Pirates goal-poacher faces uncertainty about his life at the club.

SIPHELELE MTHEMBU UNSURE OF HIS LIFE AT PRETORIA CALLIES

This publication’s informant has stated that the departure of Kopo could put Mthembu’s life in danger. It is understood that there are no any sort of ongoing discussions between the player and the club.

“It’s complicated, remember he was recommended to the team by coach Kopo to help him fight the relegation battle. Now he has left, it becomes a problem,” said the insider.

“The management is quiet now. So, he is unsure of his life at the club. If they wanted him to continue, they could have started to negotiate, but there’s nothing at the moment.

MORE PLAYERS TO FOLLOW AFETR KWANELE KOPO DEPARTURE

“I think a few players will be released and Mthembu could be one of them. But all that will be confirmed when the new coach arrives.”

Mthembu’s contract with Callies is set to end at the end of this month.
It remains to be seen whether the 35-year-old will extend his stay at the Romans or will have to search for a new home next season.

But this publication also understands that the Callies’ management is adamant, believing they still need the services of Mthembu who was affected by injuries during his short period at the club.
