Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo was released on bail on Monday afternoon following his arrest for assault. Ntshumayelo was arrested on Saturday, 3 February for alleged assault on his girlfriend. The incident is reported to have happened on Friday, 2 February.

He made his appearance at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court, Gauteng. Bibo as he is affectionately known is facing a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“The complaint is in a relationship with the accused and alleges that she was with him and his friends at his place when a fight between the accused and one of his friends ensued. She then tried to intervene in an attempt to calm down the accused,” the NPA explained on Monday.

“Ntshumayelo then allegedly became aggressive towards her, by slapping her across the face. He grabbed her by her head and hit it against the wall. She further alleges that he then pushed her to the ground.”

He was released on R1000 bail and will be back in court on 04 April 2024. The case was postponed for further investigations.
